Drone mapping mission planner for orthomosaics, DSMs and 3D terrain
Plan nadir grids, crosshatch and 4- or 5-direction oblique missions for orthomosaics, digital surface models and 3D terrain – with overlap, GSD, motion blur, photo interval, wind and battery calculated for your DJI drone.
What MavicMapper plans for you
- Patterns: single nadir grid, crosshatch, oblique 4 and oblique 5 (nadir + four oblique passes) – for 2D orthomosaics, DSMs and full 3D models.
- Overlap & GSD: set front and side overlap and the flight height – or a target ground resolution – and the line and photo spacing follow from the camera’s sensor and focal length.
- Capture: stop & shoot, or continuous capture where every photo point is a pass-through waypoint with its own photo action. The speed is limited by motion blur and the camera’s minimum photo interval.
- ⚡ As fast as possible: finds the fastest sharp shutter / ISO / speed combination within your blur and ISO limits.
- Side-look shots: extra oblique images to both sides of every line, for walls, slopes and trees.
- Terrain following from a public elevation model, detail zones with their own overlap or height, and a wind-aware course that spares the battery.
- Big areas: split automatically into one mission per battery and waypoint limit; every mission starts where the last one ended.
- Corners: every change of direction is a full stop with an in-place yaw – no photos taken while banking.

Frequently asked questions
Can I plan area map missions for DJI Fly for free?
Yes. MavicMapper is free, runs offline on Windows and exports DJI Fly waypoint missions (KMZ, WPML) for the Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro, Mini 4 Pro and Lito X1.
Which drones are supported?
DJI Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro, Mini 4 Pro and Lito X1 – all with native DJI Fly waypoint missions. The camera, speed, wind, gimbal and battery limits of the selected drone are used in every calculation.
How do I get the mission onto my controller?
Upload it over USB with one click (ADB or Windows MTP) to the DJI RC Pro, RC 2 or an Android phone – or import the KMZ by hand into a placeholder mission in DJI Fly.
