Upload waypoint missions to the DJI RC Pro & RC 2
DJI Fly flies waypoint missions but has no import button. MavicMapper writes finished missions straight into DJI Fly over USB – on the DJI RC Pro, the DJI RC 2 or an Android phone – one click per battery, with backup and automatic drone ID.
Step by step (one-time setup, then one click)
- Create placeholder missions
In DJI Fly save one simple 2-point waypoint mission per battery. Each one creates a mission slot on the controller. - Enable USB debugging
On the RC: Settings → About → tap the build number 7× to unlock Developer options, then switch on USB debugging. Menu names vary a little by controller and Android version. - Connect with USB-C
Plug the RC into your computer, unlock it and accept “Allow USB debugging?”. Tick “Always allow from this computer”. - Install ADB & detect
In MavicMapper press Install ADB tools (one time – Google platform-tools are downloaded automatically), then Detect RC. Your controller and every saved mission slot appear in a list, newest first. - Assign mission → slot
Auto-assign pairs your missions with the placeholder slots – or choose manually. Each slot shows date, size and waypoint count. - Upload & fly
Press Upload. MavicMapper backs up the replaced mission, copies the drone ID from it, verifies the transfer and restarts DJI Fly. Open the mission, set the camera from the summary and fly.
Three ways to reach your controller
| Method | Works with | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ADB over USB (recommended) | DJI RC Pro, RC 2, Android phones with DJI Fly | Also on newer Android versions that block normal access to Android/data. Backup · upload · verify · restart DJI Fly. |
| Windows file transfer (MTP) | Controllers that Windows sees as a portable device | No ADB needed; same slot list and backups. Reopen DJI Fly yourself. |
| Directly on the RC | Planner running on the controller | With the on-RC helper; falls back to direct file access where Android allows it. |
Why not by hand?
| Step | By hand | MavicMapper USB upload |
|---|---|---|
| Find the right folder | Browse GUID folders, compare dates | Slot list with date, size, waypoints |
| Rename the KMZ | Must match the placeholder exactly | Automatic |
| Drone ID in the file | Wrong ID = DJI Fly rejects it | Copied from the placeholder |
| Backup | You remember to copy it | Always, with 1-click restore |
| 5 batteries | 5 × the whole routine | One Upload press |
Copying or replacing mission files on your controller is done at your own risk. DJI Fly menus and folders can change with updates.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload my own waypoint mission to the DJI RC Pro?
Yes. MavicMapper replaces the KMZ of a placeholder mission over USB (ADB or MTP), copies the drone ID, keeps a backup and restarts DJI Fly.
Does it work with the DJI RC 2?
Yes – ADB over USB and Windows file transfer (MTP) both work with the DJI RC 2.
Do I need to install ADB myself?
No. MavicMapper downloads Google’s platform-tools automatically when you press Install ADB tools.
